The Rotorua Singlespeed Society will host the 2010 World Singlespeed Championships.

After a tense 24 hours of the bidding process our wonderful duo - John McCartney from Queenstown and Vicki Butterworth from Hawkes Bay - emerged victorious.
John gave a stellar performance ("Tonight Durango, I'll be Freddie Mercury") in Karaoke/American Idol round one.
At this stage Canada and Hungary were eliminated with Italy and New Zealand (helped by an online voting campaign - where apparently all of us really did vote often!!) going through.
Then, with some local ring-ins, the Kiwis prevailed in a winner-takes-all basketball competition, just a few hours ago...
 • Vicki B just called to confirm - it was after midnight Durango time.
She sounded elated, but hoarse and tired and emotional.
She also said we better get going - sounds like a lot of people want to come!
